Big Pumpkin, by Erica Silverman,  is a fun story that follows along a "growing theme".  It is based on some of the other children's stories, such as The Enormous Turnip.  Using other 'Halloween-type" characters, a witch tries to pull up the BIG PUMPKIN she planted to make pumpkin pie.
