The Department of Communication provides several categories
of academic advisement. Dan Brown and advisors working with
Arts & Sciences in the ARC may be able to assist students with the
following topics:
A. Changing major into Mass Communications
(Concentrations: Advertising, Broadcasting, Journalism, PR)
Students who want to explore opportunities
in a concentration or declare a major in Mass Communications
with a Concentration in one of the four available choices must meet with an
appropriate
advisor to begin
this process. Paperwork must be signed by the student, but the Department
will handle the execution of the change by coordinating information with
the ETSU Office of the Registrar.
B. Changing major out of Mass Communications
Meeting with a Mass Communications advisor is unnecessary. Students
should meet with an advisor in the new field.
C. Planning for Graduation
The Department of Communication offers regular
assistance in understanding the requirements of ETSU General Education Core,
degree requirements in the College of Arts & Sciences, and major requirements in
Mass Communications for students enrolled in the concentrations in
Mass Communications. Students should consult the
appropriate major advisor.
D. Completing Graduation Forms
Students should complete the Major Program
Sheet and Minor Program Sheet forms two semesters
before graduation. Seeing an advisor is unnecessary, because the Chair of
the Department of Communication reserves the signature opportunity for
himself on these forms. Students should submit the completed forms to the
Secretary of the Department of Communication in Warf-Pickel 519 to request
this signature. After confirming that all departmental requirements are
completed on the form, the Chair will sign the forms, and students will
be asked to deliver the papers to the ETSU Office of the Registrar.
E. Planning Class Schedules for Future Terms
See the appropriate major advisor.
