Displays Being on the committee that creates displays for the lobby of the Sherrod Library is an enjoyable part of my job. We strive to inform as well as entertain the users of the library by making book displays and handouts such as bibliographies and quizzes.

I did my first display for Black History Month in February 2001. It featured African Americans who have been the subjects of postage stamps. The exhibit included this bibliography.
In conjunction with the unveiling of All in the Family II, a mural that depicts several giants of bluegrass and country music along with other musicians who inspired, taught or collaborated with them, the Display Committee decided that our 2002 Black History Month display would honor Blues singers. Besides our usual books and information, this major display included an art print of B. B. King and many album covers. It also included this bibliography of Sherrod Library holdings.
J'AI DEUX AMOURS: AFRICAN AMERICANS IN PARIS
My favorite Black History Month display was entitled "J'ai Duex Amours: African Americans in Paris. Our 2003 display for Black History Month featured Americans such as Josephine Baker, Bessie Coleman, and Langston Hughes, who went to Paris to escape the discrimination that was prevalent in the United States.
