Research in Progress:

    I am doing research on how libraries can encourage boys to be readers. 

 

Grant Applications:

  February 2005  Worked on a committee that applied for a grant from the Partnership for a Nation of Learners.
    Our project would be a collaboration between the Sherrod Library and WETS called "Mountain Voices."  For my
    contribution, I interviewed Lisa Alther and wrote the documents  used in a website which was created as a part
    of the application.  Grants will be awarded in September 2005.

    October 2005   Grant was not funded.   

Conference Presentations:

 

     "Selecting Quality Picture Books about Children with Disabilities."  Presented at The Art of the Picture Book
      conference at Ashland University on May 12, 2006.

    Poster session, "Creating a Reading Culture in an Academic Library," was presented at the North Carolina Library
    Association Centennial Conference/Southeastern Library Association Biennial Conference on November 10, 2004.
