I Have Dreamed of Angels

I hear the sound of trouble in the world outside my window;

I feel the hollow hungers of the rich man and the poor—

Frozen in my fear of dangers I can't put a name to,

And knowing there is solace to be found and still unsure—

Oh, but I have dreamed of angels lately,

And I have heard the rush of wings—

My soul is hidden in their arms, unseen.

Standing face to face with a world that has no reason—

Falling on a promise of the power in a prayer—

Holding me up but staying just outside my field of vision—

Their presence gives a sense of peace in knowing help is there.

Oh, but I have dreamed of angels lately,

And I have heard the rush of wings—

My soul is hidden in their arms, unseen.

From the mountains of God's holiness

Through the valley of the shadow,

They praise the Creator and guard creation

Along the steps of Jacob's ladder.

Oh, but I have dreamed of angels lately,

And I have heard the rush of wings—

My soul is hidden in their arms, unseen.
