DEFINITIONS - LETTER T

THROMBOCYTOPENIA - an insufficiency of platelets; leads to clotting deficiency

THROMBOSIS/THROMBUS - a blood clot which is circulating or adhering to a blood vessel; the clot may or may not completely obstruct the lumen of the vessel

TRANSLOCATION - the crossing over of some genetic material; ie. genes from one chromosome were transferred to another chromosome during replication of genetic material

TRANSUDE - bulk fluid passage through a membrane; solutes and solvent pass through the membrane; leakage through a membrane

TROPHIC - stimulatory to; provides "nourishment" to...; for example, the gonadotrophic hormones from the anterior pituitary are stimulatory to the gonads
