FIND INTERNET BROWSERS FOR PC's BELOW
Internet Explorer · Netscape Communicator · NetCaptor · WebProwler
· NeoPlanet · Opera · Mozilla
If you use 2 or more browsers, don't select any as default; Dave uses Explorer, Communicator, NetCaptor and NeoPlanet about equally, but there is nothing wrong with just using one! Keep browsers updated to enjoy the latest "auto-tool" features! For MacIntosh browsers -> CLICK HERE!
There are dozens of PC-browsers available; the Bull tries to concentrate only on the "mainstream" browsers. (Not sure of your browser version? Click on "help," and then "about" from the pull down menu!)

1) Click on the icon below to update your Internet Explorer Browser. The latest version is Microsoft ® Internet Explorer 6. This new version of Internet Explorer has standardized 128-bit encryption... so your browser will have greater security when transferring information such as credit card numbers. This version also allows you to view the latest "dynamic hypertext" and "cascading style sheet" features. If you like "cookies," this version gives you more control over cookie features installed in your computer by websites that you visit (if you don't like cookies, you can block them). Microsoft claims that the "print preview" feature on IE 6 displays pages exactly the way they will print... this feature is helpful if you are trying to print pages with a lot of annoying frames and pop-ups. The Bull gives it 2 horns up! Click on the icon below to get there! IE 5.0 for Mac (click here) (15.9 Mb)
Note: If you do not have a previously installed version of IE, install IE by selecting the "Install Minimal or
Customize Your Browser" option. Check every box, but especially be sure to check the box marked "Microsoft virtual machine." If you do not select this box, IE will not be Java-enabled. If you are just updating your IE from 5.01 to 5.5, your 5.5 will be Java-enabled as long as your 5.01 was Java-enabled; if not, you also need to download the "Microsoft virtual machine" by selecting the "Install Minimal or Customize Your Browser" download option and being sure to check the "Microsoft virtual machine"
box. (hey, don't get mad at me, I'm just the messenger)

2) You may want to use Netscape ® Communicator 6 to surf the net. Be sure to download the Full Version of Netscape 6 (November 14, 2000) so that you will get the Netscape Java engine (without it, your browser will not be able to read Java)! Want a lean, powerful browser... Netscape's 6 is a giant leap forward (now available with themes that allow you to customize and even distribute your browser theme)! If you are a former AOL browser user, this is now the official browser of AOL (AOL and Netscape are now one and the same). The Bull gives it 2 horns up and thanks Netscape for reducing the size of the browser!"
We strongly recommend that you download the full version of NETSCAPE COMMUNICATOR 6. Click on the Netscape Logo above to use Netscape's SmartDownload.

3) Stilesoft's NetCaptor 6.1.1 (Nov. 30, 2000) has a free version and a $20 pro version. Click here to read about Netcaptor. Netcaptor runs with Windows 95,98,NT4 and 2000 and requires that Internet Explorer is installed (although you don't have to use Internet Explorer to use Netcaptor). Unlike other browsers which only view one site at a time or crowd multiple windows together, NetCaptor opens multiple sites on separate browser tabs. It is pretty cool and it really, really works! Click on the icon below to get NetCaptor or NetCaptor Pro. When you get there, click on "NetCaptor.com" under "Downloads" on the right side of the page to download the free version. Great little browser... it's a hoot to use; the Bull has upgraded the final version of this browser to two horns up... no smoke in sight, though, until the $20 price tag comes off the pro version!

4) Macrobyte's WebProwler 5.1 is for people who like fast browsing and a streamlined browser interface. If you want "picks" and "prowls" instead of old-fashioned "favorites" and "history," this is also the browser for you! Although this browser could really put the fun back in surfing, the Bull turned down one horn on it because there is no free version! There is a 30 day trial version of WebProwler 5.1; the full version is reasonably priced, but the Bull doesn't have 20 bucks, so it's one horn down! Click on the icon below, then select "our software" on the left side of the page when you get to the Macrobyte website.

5) NeoPlanet 5.2 (build 1563) is a fantastic browser that puts an interesting host of customizable features at your fingertips! The developers at NeoPlanet make a point of listening to their users, and they have made sweeping performance improvements to this browser! If you like to extensively personalize your browser, this is definitely the browser for you! Change skins on this browser the way you change skins on media players! (Dave uses the Big Bad VooDoo Daddy skin!) The Bull likes the cool music snippets when opening and closing the browser... and the price is just right.... $ 0.00, so it's 2 horns up and smokin' for NeoPlanet - but if this browser gets much bigger, it will lose its first place rating with the Bull! Click on the icon below to download this free browser! When you get to the NeoPlanet website you will find download links to the left and at the bottom of the page!

6) The OPERA browser is small and is becoming increasingly powerful... and so we added it to our list of the top PC browsers on August 12th, 2000. Click on the icon below to purchase Opera 4.02 or to get a 30 day free trial version. Quite frankly, this browser is becoming so good... that if they would produce a free version... the Bull's nose would be breathing fire and smoke right now! Two horns up!!! Could Opera replace the BIG TWO browsers in the next year or two? You'll also find this browser listed under "special needs browsers."

7) Click on the icon below to get "MOZILLA." Mozilla is the ultimate "cross platform" browser because it runs on everything (Windows, Mac, Linux and other operating systems)! Mozilla is the ultimate "growth" browser because
there is a developer's version of the browser available to let developers submit changes and a "talkback" version that lets users submit "bugs." You can download 2 different "types" of Mozilla browser versions...
"milestones," which are rigorously tested versions released every 2 to 3 months, and more frequently released versions, called "nightlies," or "snapshots." To quote Mozilla, "nightly builds will probably work,
but maybe not." Feel like taking a browse on the edge? Mozilla is definitely for you! The current Mozilla milestone is #18 (Oct 12, 2000). This intermediate size browser provides endless possibilities for users... you
could be the next great Mozilla developer. This little "eliminator" takes care of a lot of the little day to day problems you might encounter with other browsers. Dave loves
this totally awesome browser! Because Mozilla is working hard to become "the people's browser," the Bull had to upgrade Mozilla to two horns up!
