What is Newspaper Layout & Design class?

This is the advanced layout class in which journslism majors learn
the specifics of design and literally design, edit and write heads for a newspaper, El Nuevo, a bilingual newspaper. The first half of the semester is spent learning and the second half is spent doing.

HOW El Nuevo happens ...

- During fall semester, articles are written by ETSU In-Depth Writing class.
- Photos are taken by Photojournalism class.
- ETSU Foreign Languages students translate the articles into Spanish.
- During spring semester, Layout & Design students take both English and Spanish versions of each story and the art that accompanies -- and they lay out and design the entire 12-page broadsheet newspaper.
- Foreign language students edit the heads and stories.
- The newspaper is printed in June.
