How I Tie a Circus Hitch

This purpose of this page is to show members of the Stagecraft mail list how I tie a circus hitch.  This page is NOT intended as a tutorial on tying this knot and the author is not responsible for any accident that may result from any use or misuse of the information on this page.  (Everybody understand?)

Step #1: Tie a clove hitch

Step #2: Wrap the trailing end around the live end four complete wraps (I wrap in a clockwise rotation).

Step #3: Wrap the trailing end back down the live end (toward the clove hitch) three complete wraps and stick the end of the cable through the "eye" that was created when you started the wraps up the live end.

Done.
