International Business assignment

In your course site, click on the Virtual Library link at the left of the WebCT screen to access databases. Passwords and access links are available on that page.

Use InfoTrac databases from the Tennessee Virtual Library to find full-text articles.

In General Business File International from the Tennessee Virtual Library look for Tennessee Electronic Library databases.
In the blue bar on the left side of the screen, select subject guide (if it is not already selected).
Type in the search box: International Business Enterprises.
Click in the check boxes below to limit your search to articles with text.  Click Search button.
Click on narrow by subdivision.
Find the countries you are interested in.  Click view to see those articles.

In InfoTrac OneFile (also from the Tennessee Virtual Library and Tennessee Electronic Library) Search for the specific aspects of your countries' culture/customs (examples:  gender issues, attire, technology, etc.), or the name of the country.  Again, remember to limit your search to articles with text.

Additional ETSU Database: ABI/Inform

If this course is taught by an ETSU instructor, or if you are an ETSU home school student, you have access to ETSU's resources, including ABI/Inform. If the course is taught by an ETSU instructor, a link to the ETSU Sherrod Library is located under the Virtual Library link in your course and password information appears there. If you are an ETSU home school student, see password instructions below.

Get to ABI/INFORM from the Sherrod Library homepage by selecting find articles > A > ABI/INFORM.

In the search box, type etiquette and [your country or region]. (for example, etiquette and china). Use the tabs at the top of the screen to choose the type of information you are interested in locating.

Use NetLibrary to access online books on international business.

In order to use NetLibrary, you must:
  1. Have an ETSU username (z-name) and password (the same as your i-mail account), or this semester's RODP password for accessing ETSU's library. (see below)
  2. Go to NetLibrary using this link and login with your ETSU username/password.
  3. In the box at the very top of the NetLibrary screen, create a username and password of your choice for your use with NetLibrary. Once you have created an account, you can access the books by going directly to http://www.netlibrary.com and using the account name/password you created.
To find information on International Business:
The same subject search you used above, International Business Enterprises, is useful here.
Also do a keyword search by the name of the country you're researching.
You might find information under specific aspects of culture/customs, as well.

Resumes and Cover Letters

Use NetLibrary to access online books about resumes and cover letters.

Do a keyword search on resumes to retrieve at least 8 books.
Do a keyword search on cover letters to retrieve at least 6 books

Password Information

If you are taking an ETSU course and need passwords to access online resources at ETSU or from the Tennessee Virtual Library, the password for your instructor's institution and for the RODP databases should be available inside your RODP course. Log in to your RODP course and click on the "Virtual Library" link. The password should be listed there. If you need help with ETSU's logins, contact Amy Arnold at arnolda@etsu.edu. Be sure that your subject line says something about RODP so that I don't lose you in my overflowing junk mail box.

If ETSU is your home school and you don't know your z-name, you can look it up at http://www.etsu.edu. Use the search box ("enter search term") and select "people finder." Put your name in. It will list your z-name. If you have never logged in to an ETSU blackboard site, an ETSU campus computer, or used i-mail, your password is your social security number. If you have used one of these services, your password is the same as the one you use there.

You can also activate your domain and e-mail account or change your password at this address: https://security.etsu.edu/accountactivate/
