Besides its decorative function, a traditional Khazakh tush, or ger hanging, is used to help keep windblown dust and snow from entering the ger.  Hand embroidered, it takes a woman 4 to 6 months to create one of these beautiful designs.  This one dates to the 1960s or early 1970s and is signed (in stitching) by its creator near the bottom right.
