Answer to the August Question: 

Sandra Jenson, a crusader for disability rights, fought for and won the opportunity to be the first person with Down's Syndrome to have a heart transplant in 1996.  Her heart transplant surgeon reported that the legacy of Sandra's case is: "We should never judge who is worthy by a generalization.  Each person deserves to be evaluated as an individual." Menopause Awareness Month    Prostate Cancer Awareness 

                      

Study of attitudes towards menopause and aging is important because attitudes may impact the perception of symptoms.  What groups expressed the most positive outlook on menopause?  Attitudes Toward Menopause and Aging Across Ethnic/Racial Groups

Racial disparity in treatment of osteoporosis after diagnosis - Consider possible reasons for the disparity in treatment found in this study.  

 

                    

Prostate Cancer Screening Behavior in Men from Seven Ethnic Groups: the Fear Factor   How can programs designed to encourage prostate cancer screening overcome men's feeling of fear of the results? Identify some differences between cultural groups. 

 

 Can group education and group discussion actually impact quality of life in such concrete areas as capacity to work for prostate cancer patients?  Why might the strategy impact less educated men more than others?
