Assignment:
Propose an Article from Your Bibliography, for our Entire Class to Read in the
Next Couple of Weeks
This article proposal is
due in class on Friday, April 4.
The Assignment
Pick one article from
your bibliography that you think is actually good for a general audience.
That is, pick one article that you can genuinely and sincerely say, to your
classmates, "you will enjoy reading this."
Then, write a memo to me
and your classmates, in which you propose that article as a reading assignment
for the entire class. The whole class will read your memo and give the
article an up or down vote.
Guidelines
Your goal is to describe
the article clearly and honestly, so that people can decide whether or not they
want to read it. Consider the following:
- Include basic citation
information, including author, title, periodical, web site address, and also
the length of the article.
- Describe what's good
about the article. What makes it interesting, worth reading.
- Who is the
author? What other sorts of things has she or he written?
- Discuss the style and
readability of the article. Describe the style. Include a few
select quotes.
You should be able to do
all of this in one page.
