- course description: Pharmacy technicians work in community and hospital pharmacies assisting pharmacists. This course provides training in basic calculations and other areas to enhance the job skills of current pharmacy technicians, or to prepare individuals to enter the job market. The course meets for approximately 12 weeks.
- prerequisites: Individuals planning to take the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Board exam must have a high school diploma or GED.
- text book: There is no required text for the course. There are a number of texts available for pharmacy technicians, and information is available on the course site under "course information".
- assignments: Students will be expected to print out course materials, attend internet lectures and complete homework assignments. There are quizzes and exams associated with the course.
- technology: For this course, a live Internet connection is required.
For minimum acceptable performance we recommend:
-At least a 56K modem connection, although it can be accessed with slower connections.
-A monitor capable of at least 800x600 resolution.
-A 5.0 browser( Internet Explorer or Netscape) or better, you should refer to the minimum hardware requirements for your browser.
-A valid email account
Familiarity with computers and an online environment are obvious skills needed to successfully use online course management tools.
To be comfortable with navigating a course Web site, we recommend you have the following basic skills:
- Browsing the Web
- Entering URL's
- Locating and opening files on your computer
- Using drop down lists
- Entering text into Web based forms
- participation: This is not a correspondence course that can be completed at your own pace. Rather, it is a course in which students are expected to complete weekly assignments and to progress as a group through the material presented.
- attendance: On campus attendance is not required.
- deadlines: Class size is limited. There are no deadlines for
registration.
