Interactions, collisions, and mergers between galaxies can drastically
alter the structures of galaxies.
They can also affect the rate
at which stars form, in some cases triggering intense bursts of star formation.
In this study, we use
SPITZER
infrared,
GALEX
ultraviolet,
and SARA
optical images of a sample of approximately three dozen
optically-selected interacting galaxy pairs,
to investigate star formation enhancement
in tidally-distorted pre-merger galaxy pairs.
We are also including data from the
Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS)
in our analysis.

Notes on Spitzer data reduction
The final reprocessed FITS format copies of the Spitzer images are
available
here. Please reference Smith et al. (2007, AJ, 133, 791)
if you use these Spitzer images.
FITS versions of the GALEX images are available from the
GALEX
archives,
while FITS copies of the
SDSS images are available from the SDSS data server.
Please reference Smith et al. (2010, AJ,
139, 1212)
if you use the GALEX/SDSS images.
Note: sources in red are the additional ROC sources added to our sample
to make it `complete', according to the original selection criteria. These will be included in
the survey paper.
