Atlas of Optical Images of IRAS Galaxies
This is a collection of images that I obtained as part of my thesis at the University of Massachusetts. These galaxies were selected from a sample observed by the IRAS Satellite. Some of these are previously known and catalogued galaxies while others were discovered by IRAS. Notice that many of these galaxies have peculiar structures. These are red (I band = 9000 Angstrom) images obtained with the 82 inch telescope on Kitt Peak in Arizona.
For some more recent images of galaxies, see my current research page and my pages on off-centered collisions between galaxies and extragalactic tails. To go back to my home page, click here.
