Ralph Eshelman (left) - - Cervical vertebra (in hand and right)

Recently, ETSU worked out an agreement with the Museum of the Middle Appalachians (located in Saltville) to assist with the ongoing excavations of a Pleistocene fossil deposit within the small town of Saltville, Virginia. Below are several pictures from a short visit to the site by Dr. Wallace and a student on 8/6/2002.

Nice group of ribs and vertebrae!
Pile of bones!

Dr. Wallace holds a nearly perfect rib.
What a rib!
