The peripheral nervous system is responsible for connecting all body regions to the central nervous system, mainly through the spinal cord. Spinal nerves that exit the spinal cord make up 4 nerve plexus': the cervical plexus, the brachial plexus, the lumbar plexus, and the sacral plexus. Additionally, much of the autonomic nervous system arises from the peripheral nervous system.
