Dr. Bob's "Rabbit's 25th Anniversary" Webpage

On June 18, 2011, Dr. Bob and his 1984 VW Rabbit celebrated 25 years together. Unfortunately, due to unavoidable circumstances, the anniversary was not fully commemorated until later.

In celebration of the 25th anniversary, the Rabbit was repainted its original color, Diamond Silver Metallic (an "extra-cost" color as compared to the other stock VW colors of that year). The paint job was done by Chris Green of Johnson City and was completed on July 16. Sadly, many awesome bumper stickers were lost (though the 1988 and 1989 Auburn University parking decals remain)! New brake servo/vacuum booster, new plugs, and several adjustments were done in April and a long-needed oil change was done in August. Future plans include a new ceiling, new windshield (though Dr. Bob has grown used to looking at those cracks over the past 25 years), new window gaskets, and some upholstery work to the driver's seat.

The Rabbit makes a (diesel) friend!

The Rabbit got a sibling on May 13, 2011 - a 1966 Sea Blue Beetle!

Here's a bit more technical data on the Rabbit. The sticker near the spare tire well indicates that the Rabbit comes with the following options:

  1. Vent windows, front (option code 561).
  2. Air-Conditioning (option code 573).
  3. Floor mats, front and rear (option code 968).
See the MK1VW website for details on the option codes. The interior and exterior paint color is Diamond Metallic Silver (code LE7Y). The upholstery appears to be Navy Blue.

Stay tuned for the 30th, 40th, and 50th anniversaries!
