September 20, 2008 marks the 20th anniversary of the 1988 Auburn University Department of Algebra, Combinatorics, and Analysis' first day of the Functional Analysis sequence (ACA 740-741-742) taken by Bernard "Bernie" Carlisle, Jeff Ehme, Robert "Bob" Gardner, and Tim "TTB" Olson. The course was taught by Dr. Bill Hudson in one of the back rooms of the Math Annex (which has since been turned into a parking lot).

Here are some pictures of the main characters:

Where are they now?
Today (September 2008), we know the following: Each of the photos above (except for the picture of the book) are compliments of Dr. Johnny Henderson. A webpage of related interest is the Bob Gardner's "20th Anniversary of Real Analysis Class" webpage , which was a sequence of classes taught by Dr. Henderson at Auburn in 1987-88.

In Memorial

Sadly, on November 27, 2007 Bill Hudson died while hiking in the Rocky Mountain National Park. After retirement, he moved to Boulder, Colorado to be near the mountians and hiking trails of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Some details are still online (as of September 2008) from the Rocky Mountain News here. Speaking for those who knew him, both students and colleagues, I can say that he is missed.
