Professional Experience - Business and Industry

1986 - 1994

Senior Scientist                                Science Applications International Corporation

Designed and developed numerous large scale computer simulations including: interaction of lasers, neutral particle beams, kinetic energy weapons and microwaves with enemy force assets; combinatorial–geometry, ray–tracing computer simulation to explore the interaction of explosively formed projectiles with complex structures. As PC service center manager, developed a PC usage log program and ancillary accounting programs to allocate computer usage to contract; database system to accept document control data from corporate security and allow user-entered document summaries.

1980 - 1986

Vice President and Division Leader                                      Beers Associates, Inc.

Led a group of twenty-five physicists, computer scientists, and programmers responsible for: predicting the response of the STARSAT test–bed satellite for two underground nuclear tests and numerous above ground test series; designing a unified vector data processing system for satellite test data; developing a computer simulation for a first principles model of dielectric breakdown; developing a computer model for the charging of dielectric due to charge particle irradiation.

1972 - 1980

Section Leader                                  Science Applications International Corporation

Led a team of seven physicists and programmers responsible for: designing and developing a two–dimensional prolate spheroid computer model to calculate the electromagnetic pulse (EMP) from a near–surface nuclear burst; designing and developing a one-dimensional planar model to calculate the EMP from a high altitude nuclear burst; designing and developing a radiation transport computer simulation to provide a detailed characterization of the gamma flux and the electromagnetic environment at the Aurora simulation facility.
