Designing with Light by J. Michael Gillette
Objective:
To introduce the student to the fundamentals of theatrical lighting
design and
technology.
Expected Outcomes:
As a result of taking this course the student will be able to:

exercises, video presentations, and other multi-media presentational methods.

Attendance is an important aspect of the Theatre and of this class.
You are allowed two absences before your grade is affected.
For every absence after two, your final grade will be reduced by 5
points. Chronic lateness will count
as absences. As this is a
hands-on course, quizzes and in-class projects will be the routine and missed
work cannot be made-up afterwards. Please make every effort to attend class and
be punctual.
Lab:
Work a total of ten hours on the hang and focus of the Theatre Division
productions: A work schedule will
be posted on D2L as soon as possible.
Projects: There will be two lighting design projects consisting of creating a light plot and paperwork for two theatrical productions. There will also be a Power Point / Oral Presentation on a given Lighting Designer. You are also required to write a short paper critiquing the lighting design for both of the Division of Theatre Productions.
Grading Scale:
A = 100-94 A- = 93-90
B+ = 89-87
B = 86-84
B- = 83-80
C+ = 79-77
C = 76-74
C- = 73-70
D+ = 69-67
D = 66-60
F = 59 or below
