Long-Term Goals
of the Fit Kids Program
1.
To enhance and supplement existing physical education classes in
elementary schools.
2.
To provide students with a better understanding of overall fitness
and wellness.
3.
To create a positive attitude about wellness that will influence
healthy lifestyles in children and parents.
4.
To motivate the student to take part in regular vigorous physical
activity throughout his/her lifetime.
5.
To provide the student with various levels of healthy competition
utilizing fitness activities.
6.
To provide each student an incentive program based on individual
activities.
7.
To provide the student with a variety of fitness related activities
to promote cardiovascular endurance, appropriate body composition,
adequate muscular strength, endurance, and flexibility.
Immediate Goals
of the Fit Kids Program
1.
Expand into at least 1 new county school system each year.
2.
Explore funding options to create new Graduate Assistant positions
for more time in schools.
3.
Begin bi-yearly testing for improved physical fitness once ample
time is allowed to identify areas of
improvement in participants.
4.
Incorporate national agencies and programs into the Fit Kids
curriculum to enhance overall wellness. (American Heart Association,
American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, Fitness Gram, etc.)
5.
Continue to conduct school and community health fairs with sponsors’
support to educate children, parents, teachers, and community
leaders about the importance of fitness and wellness.
6.
Continue to gain community and media support for the Fit Kids
Program and sponsors.
