ENTC 2170—Assignment 2.5:

Geneva Gear: Polar Array

Using the Assignment #2.5 PDF drawing as a guide, create the geneva gear geometry as shown and insert the BORDER.DWG as a block and modify it as required.
  1. Start a new drawing from scratch; use English (inch) units.
  2. Using the layer tool, create a new layer named "2D Geneva Gear". Create other named layers as desired to hold dimensions, points, and/or construction lines.

  1. Create the geometry per the drawing.
    Note the object's bilateral and rotational symmetry. By developing only 1/6th of the object and using the polar array feature, you can save lots of time and effort.
  2. Save your work as "ASSIGN25.DWG" in your personal directory space.
  3. Insert, position, and scale the BORDER.DWG file into the drawing and move &or scale the block as required to fit to your satisfaction. Explode the block the edit the individual elements as required, specifically the Dwg Name, Date, and Dwg No. Again, make sure your name is in the Dwn By space.
  4. When you are finished creating the required geometry and revising the title block, save your work. Exit AutoCAD and use the Windows Explorer to copy ASSIGN25.DWG to some type of removable media &/or upload it to a save place in "The Cloud."). Submit the assignment electronically to your instructor as instructed.
