Student Activities

My work with students has extended beyond the classroom to field placements and student organizations.  I served as the faculty advisor for both the Social Work Student Association (SSWA) and the Phi Alpha Nu Chapter of the Phi Alpha National Honor Society from 2012-2014.  These organizations help build a sense of community among social work students at ETSU.  It also gives some students an extra opportunity to build leadership skills.  Both are service organizations that provide activities and events that are focused on addressing needs in the community and building awareness of social issues.

Each semester since coming to ETSU, I have served as an external field instructor to students in field placements.  These sites have primarily been with the Homes for Youth Program and the regional library system.

I have also worked with students to publish professional journal articles.  To date, two articles have been published with student co-authors and two more manuscripts are in the works now with students.
