Microsoft has released MS Office 2016. It is a component of Office 365 for Business. If you have taken advantage of the available Office download you will have 2016 on your computer at home. Most of our desktop computers have Office 2013. All the multimedia classrooms have Office 2013.
The good, the bad, and the ugly of Microsoft Office 2013 and 2016.
Yes, I have heard it said that Office 2013 and 2016 is UGLY. I certainly would not go that far. I don't see it as ugly but it is definitely different. If you like a cleaner..leaner display you will like Office 2013 and 2016. If you hate change, you are not going to be happy with 2013 and 2016. One of the changes is the subscription option. MS Office 2013 subscription package is called Microsoft 365. Office 365 is a package of software that is subscription based, comes with several goodies and can be installed on a Mac and PC and several mobile devices. All Staff, Faculty, and Students have Office 365 as one of our ETSU Benefits. Documents can be opened and edited from home as well as from ETSU. I use a Mac at home so I am able to put a copy on my PC and Mac at home. I have a Terabyte of storage and I can set permission levels that range from totally shared to totally private.
ITS offers several workshops related to Office 365. Links and information can be found on the Training Web Site.
