• My professional paper, Matrix Properties of Magic Squares, written for my M.S. in math at Texas Woman's University, 1993. This is a PDF file which has a few problems with it. The original was written using a program called EXP which I no longer have access to. I used a program called EXP viewer to call it up from the old 3.25-inch floppy disks and then print to PDF, but somehow a few of the formatting codes showed up in red and the page numbers on the table of contents are wrong. Trying to remove the red codes and changing page numbers, though, creates all sorts of worse havoc, so just make do with what's there. If you really need a good copy, let me know and I'll get a paper copy for you.

• Developmental Math Content Sites
• Online Prealgebra Course from Free-Ed.Net. A kind of interactive text/workbook. Covers much of the same material we taught in our prealgebra classes when we had them. Good for a refresher!
• Mathnotes.com --link to a site with tutorials for slightly different prealgebra, elementary algebra, and intermediate algebra books from the ones we used to use, but by the same authors. You'll need to match book names and chapter titles with the ones in our books.
• Multiplying/Factoring Polynomials Quiz -- A self-checking quiz on mutlipying binomials and factoring trinomials.
• Factoring Hints -- Step-by-step help on factoring polynomials. By Margaret Donaldson, former assistant professor of developmental math at ETSU.
• Algebra Tile Basics --A lesson on a pictorial way to understand multiplying binomials.
• "Math for Morons Like Us" -- Despite the title, this is a site developed by high school students to teach each other prealgebra, algebra, and other math topics. This could be helpful for both elementary and intermediate algebra. You may need to browse through both Algebra I and Algebra II to find the topic you need. Also has information helpful for studying prealgebra as well as precalculus and calculus.
• PurpleMath -- Free online algebra resource.  Includes homework guidelines, study skills, and modules for several algebra topics.  Includes explanations and examples. Probably my favorite.
• SOS Math -- another free math resource, written at a slightly higher level.  Covers topics beyond algebra also.
• CoolMath --yet another free math site with a really interesting cursor.


• Precalculus Content Sites -- I haven't had time to investigate these offsite links too thoroughly yet. These will open up in a new browser window.  I'm scouring the web looking for more and will add them as I have time.

Please visit The Hunger Site and click daily to feed hungry people for free. Then you can also click on the other tabs to fight breast cancer, fund healthcare and books for children, save rainforest land, and feed animals in shelters if you'd like.

Unlike some sites, this site is carefully crafted to be viewed equally well in the Netscape, Internet Explorer, Opera, Mozilla, Mozilla Firefox (my personal favorite), Safari, Avant, AOL Explorer, or the Real Player browsers. (I haven't checked it in Konqueror, cell phones, PDAs, or any browsers that I haven't heard of.) It is created using Dreamweaver to be browser-independent. In my humble opinion, a webmaster who produces a site that only works with one browser is either snotty, lazy or not doing his/her job. So there.

No information is collected from you on any of my faculty web pages.  (Usage information is collected on Blackboard, but not used for anything devious.) This site is made from 100% recycled electrons and pixels.
