Finding Texture Files on the Internet

Finding image files of different textures is quite easy. There are numerous galleries of texture images available including:
A quick way to find online collections of textures is using an Internet search enginge.
Google Yahoo! Dogpile Ask Jeeves Search.com
When prompted, enter a general text string (i.e.; "metal textures gallery") or a specific text string to focus the search (e.g.; "brushed_aluminum.jpg" or "birds eye maple").

Saving Image Files

It is strongly recommended that you save all image files to a local hard drive as the information on the World Wide Web is not static; Files move and accounts die.

Saving an image file from the Internet is very easy:
  1. Place the cursor directly over the desired image.
  2. Windows:  Right click the mouse to get the flyout menu.
        or
    Macintosh:  Press and hold the mouse button until the menu pops up
  3. Choose the appropriate file saving option:
  4. When prompted, change the directory (folder) and/or the filename as desired and save the file.
