Announcements

October 26, 2017

It is with great regret and only after considerable thought that I would like to announce that I will be leaving ETSU at the end of the current academic year. Being in a serious, long-term relationship with another human being sometimes requires sacrifice. I have been lucky that for the entirety of our marriage (now in our 9th year), my wife has consistently sacrificed her own career goals to follow me around the country. She came with me to Texas for graduate school, followed me to 2 locations in Connecticut for internship and post-doc, and then followed me here to Johnson City so I could pursue my dream of faculty-ship at a top notch University. Throughout that time, my wife has been fantastic, but her career has come second to mine. Recently, she discovered an opportunity to pursue her career interests elsewhere, and I felt it was important to give her the freedom to do so. As expected (she is pretty great after all), she was offered the job at the University of Tennessee - Chattanooga, and will be starting there on December 1. I will move with her a couple weeks later, in mid December, after the close of the current semester.

Fortunately, I was able to work out a plan with my department to finish out the academic year. This is beneficial to both of us in that 1) they are not left with a vacancy mid-year that they cannot fill (because of the way hiring works in academia), and 2) I have time to extend my transition and find my own path in Chattanooga. As an additional benefit, I get to continue in this wonderful job that I've loved for a little longer, but from a distance. I'm very grateful for this opportunity.

I will miss ETSU and will plan to keep in touch with my colleagues and students. My CAPTVRE Imagination newsletter will continue as planned, with quarterly releases. Keep an eye out for the next edition in January 2018.

September, 2017

We are proud to announce the inaugural publication of our lab newsletter, CAPTVRE Imagination, found in the newsletters link to the left. We plan for this newsletter to continue quarterly. It will contain original articles by myself, students, and other guest contributors, and covers an array of topics relevant to our work. I highly recommend it for current students, practitioners, parents, and youth. Please check us out, and consider subscribing in order to get future editions in the mail.
