DISTINGUISHED STUDENT RESEARCH ALUMNI
Some of the students who went through our Lab have gone on to big things. Some have even made a name for themselves. Some are practicing clinicians, some are academicians, and some are both. Some went on to Ph.D. programs in experiemental areas of psychology. I am extremely proud to have been associated with all of them.
Trish Benson, Ph.D. – Dr. Benson earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Auburn University. Dr. Benson and I are published in the journal, Social Behavior and Personality and have presented numerous papers at professional meetings.
Melissa Chelf, M.A. – Melissa earned her M.A. from Western Carolina University and came here to do some research. She and I are published in the journal, Child Abuse and Neglect.
Dorian Lamis, M.A. – Dorian is presently a Ph.D. student in the Clinical Psychology program at the University of South Carolina. Dorian and I have published two manuscripts in the journal, Death Studies. We have also presented research on several occasions. He earned a M.A. in Clinical Psychology from ETSU.
Shana Hamilton, Ph.D. – Dr. Hamilton earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Memphis. She earned her M.A. in Clinical Psychology from ETSU.
Zach Hammons, M.D. – Dr. Hammons earned his M.D. from the Quillen School of Medicine at ETSU. He then completed a residency in Psychiatry. We presented papers at several professional meetings.
Jameson Hirsch, Ph.D. – Dr. Hirsch earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Wyoming. He completed Postdocs at the University of Rochester and University of Syracuse Medical Centers. He is currently a faculty member at East Tennessee State University. Dr. Hirsch and I are co-authors on numerous publications including the journals, Research in Developmental Disabilities, Archives of Suicide Research, College Student Journal, and The International Journal of Social Psychiatry, as well as numerous presentations at professional meetings. The two of us have also been featured on the web site of the American Association of Suicidology.
Cheryl Holt, Ph.D. – Dr. Holt earned her Ph.D. in Social Psychology from St. Louis University. Dr. Holt and I are published in the journal, Sex Roles.
Ellen Ingram, M.A. – Ellen earned a M.A. degree in Clinical Psychology and has worked as a clinician in community mental health clinics in the Johnson City area for some years. Ellen and I are published in the journal, Death Studies and three chapters in Annual Editions: Death, Dying, and Bereavement.
Rhonda Merwin, Ph.D – Dr. Merwin earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Mississippi. She completed a clinical internship and a clinical fellowship at the Duke University Medical Center. She is currently on the medical staff at the Duke University Medical Center, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Her specialty is working with people who are experiencing eating disorders. During part of her tenure here at ETSU she was Rhonda Blevins. Dr. Merwin and I are co-authors in the Archives of Suicidal Research.
Amy Mize, M.A. – Amy earned a M.A. degree in Clinical Psychology and has worked for years with sexually abused children as well as offenders. Amy and I have published in the Journal of Divorce and Remarriage.
Jamie Russell, Psy.D. – Dr. Russell earned his Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology and is currently in private practice in Atlanta. His specialty is working with gay, lesbian, and transgendered people. Dr. Russell earned an M.A. degree in Clinical Psychology from ETSU. While at ETSU, Dr. Russell was awarded a Faculty Student Research Award. We are co-authors in The International Journal of Social Psychiatry.
Jason Sikorski, Ph.D. – Dr. Sikorski earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Auburn University. He then completed a clinical psychology internship at the Medical University of Ohio and a postdoctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins University. He is currently a faculty member at Central Connecticut University.
Steven Smith, Psy.D. – Dr. Smith earned his Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Wright State University and is currently in practice with the V.A. Medical Center in Mountain Home, TN. Dr. Smith and I are published in Social Behavior and Personality, as well as a chapter in the Encyclopedia of Criminology and Deviant Behavior.
Jamie Stump, Ph.D. – Dr. Stump earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Alabama. She is a neuropsychologist at the University of Pittsburg Medical Center. Dr. Stump and I are published in the Annual Catalog of the Jean Piaget Archives and the journal, Death Studies.
