CURRENT STUDENTS

 

JENNY BARNESJenny Barnes – Jenny entered our Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology in the fall of 2010.  She earned her B.S. degree in Psychology from ETSU in 2009 where she was involved in research involving suicide, reasons for living and substance abuse.  Her awards include spending a year at ETSU as a McNair Scholar.  She plans to work primarily as a clinician.  Her research interests include substance abuse and reasons for living. She and I are presenting research at the 2011 annual meeting of the Southeastern Psychological Association in Jacksonville, Florida. We also have a manuscript submitted for publication. In addition to her course, research, and Clinic responsibilities, the future Dr. Barnes is working as my teaching assistant as well as preparing to teach one of our undergraduate Abnormal Psychology Writing Labs. zjlb91@goldmail.etsu.edu

William Brock – Will is a graduate of ETSU and is currently working in Knoxville. While here, he was enrolled in the Honors in Discipline Program at ETSU.  He is currently applying to graduate programs in Clinical Psychology.  For several years, Will has worked with adults who are experiencing developmental disabilities as well as chronic mental illness.  Presently he is working on a literature review of suicide and reasons for living in adolescents, which will be his Honor’s Thesis. Will is also a self-confessed "nerd" regarding anything electronic. If you need a recommendation on a phone, computer, etc., Will is your man.

MAP OF ENGLANDMICHELLE SUMMERSMichelle Summers – Michelle is a senior Psychology major who is enrolled in the Honors in Discipline Program at ETSU.  She spent much of this past year studying in Chester, England working via e-mail on her Honors Thesis. Her research interests include suicide and reasons for living. "I'm really interested in the concept that people in a sense seem to need to have something in their life that they consider their thing whether it's leisure, work, or relationships." Michelle is interested in what effect those activities or "things" have on reasons for living. UPDATE --- MICHELLE HAS JUST PRESENTED HER HONOR'S THESIS AT THIS YEAR'S ETSU Boland Undergraduate Research Symposium. GREAT JOB MICHELLE!!!!
