Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at ETSU! The Psychology Department features a Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology that focuses on training scientist-practitioners to conduct psychological research and practice in rural, primary care settings.
In rural areas, primary care facilities are important catchment settings for screening and treatment of individuals with mental illness, who may have no other access to mental health services. The Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program at ETSU will train researchers and clinicians focused on rural, primary care-based psychology. The current academic year (2008-2009) is the second year that students are being admitted to this unique program. A second Ph.D. program, in Experimental Psychology, will begin in the 2009-2010 academic year. These are exciting changes in the Psychology Department that you may want to learn more about. Contact Dr. Hirsch or any other psychology faculty member for program information.
Psychology Department - Speaker Series
The ETSU Psychology Department sponsors a Speaker Series that is open to the public and which psychology majors are required to attend in some quantity. Psychology majors should, at some point, register for PSYC-2020, which is a non-credit course, and which is repeatable. Each time you register for PSYC-2020, you must attend at least TWO Speaker Series seminars to receive full credit for the course. Look for announcements for the Speaker Series on the D2L website, via the PsychTalk listserv, and on bulletin boards in the Psychology Department.
Intro to Psychology - Research Requirements
Don't forget that all Intro to Psychology students must complete three credit hours of research participation to fulfill the research requirements for the course. You can view available research opportunities and sign up for research projects online via the SONA System: ETSU SONA SYSTEMS
