The Vehicular Network Laboratory (VNL) at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) is located within the Innovation Laboratory building, a state-of-the-art facility that serves as a research incubator for ESTU.
VNL conducts cutting-edge research and development in Connected Vehicle (CV) technology, simulation of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) applications, and big data analytics using real world CV data from US Department of Transportation. The laboratory's mission is to develop communication protocols for connected vehicle environments, design multi-hop routing algorithms, design and implement innovative ITS applications, and develop parallel simulation tools to evaluate the performance, reliability, and feasibility of deploying ITS applications in large scale urban transportation networks. Research topics include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Connected vehicle technology
- Big data analytics
- ITS applications
- Multi-hop wireless network protocols
