East Tennessee State University (ETSU) and the Carnegie Hotel (where the colloquium will be held) are in Johnson City, northeastern corner of Tennessee, which can be conveniently reached by both car and air. The hotel is directly across from D.M. Brown Hall (Science Building where Paleobotany lab locates on the 3rd floor) of ETSU.

 

1. By car: Johnson City (marked by a purple arrow below) is connected by Interstate Highway 26 and about 10 miles to Interstate Highway 81.


2. By Air:

  • The local airport for Johnson City is called Tri-Cities Regional Airport (TCRA), which offers non-stop service to eight hubs (Orlando, St. Petersburg, and Ft. Lauderdale by Allegiant Air; Cincinnati and  Atlanta by Delta; Detroit and Memphis by Northwest and Charlotte (NC) by US Airways). With one connection you can get most anywhere in the United States and many destinations abroad.
  • We are prepared to make two or three round trips to TCRA with the ETSU van for pickups in the late morning and afternoon of Friday, March 13. If you desire to be included in this informal shuttle service please let me know as soon as possible your flight number and arrival time.
  • The Carnegie Hotel where you will stay at also provides free shuttle service to and from TCRA. The number for this service is (423) 325-6000. (Toll free: 866-757-8277)
