  • Children's emotional development and how emotional functioning relates to adaptive/maladaptive mental health outcomes
  • Parental influences on emotional development
  • Impact of childhood maltreatment history and mental illness on parenting
  • Adverse childhood experiences (ACES)
  • Internalizing symptoms (anxiety, depression) in children and families 
  • Perinatal mental health 
  • Diverse contexts surrounding development (e.g., race/ethnicity, nationality, rural Appalachian culture)
