I hail originally from the
state of
Hawaii. I earned my B.A. and M.A. from the
University of Hawaii's
Department of Speech
(now called the Department of Communicology - how badass is that?).
Upon deciding to pursue a doctoral degree, I moved briefly to the town
of
Blacksburg, Virginia before relocating to
East Lansing, Michigan. I attended
Michigan State University for
the three years it took me to earn my Ph.D. from the
Department of Communication. I
happily moved to
Johnson City, Tennessee to take the position of Assistant Professor
of
Communication at
East Tennessee State University.
Currently, I teach
Public Speaking,
Interpersonal Communication,
and
Dark Side of Close Relationships.
My hobbies include stalking people on
Facebook;
eavesdropping in coffee shops, bars and restaurants; inventing the
content of conversations I cannot actually hear based on
nonverbal behavior; learning how to make a better, more attractive,
more user-friendly website; occasionally making beaded jewelry which I
don't actually wear, and trying out recipes I've learned from
Alton Brown or
Paula Deen. |
