Dr. Donald Luttermoser's ASTR-1020
Astronomy II
Course Web Page

This web page has been set up for the students at ETSU taking ASTR-1020 Astronomy II with Dr. Luttermoser. Links have been set up for the students to download the course notes, homework, handouts that have been given out in class, and textbook's web page. The files that can be downloaded are in PDF (Portable Document Format, which requires Acrobat Reader to view) format. Note that we will be using Edition 4.0 of my course notes during the Spring 2009 semester.

Course Overview

Astronomy II covers the Sun's interior, stars, the interstellar medium, the Milky Way Galaxy, galaxies in the Universe, cosmology (the structure and history of the Universe), and the possibility of life in the Universe.

Homework Assignments

There will be 5 Homework sets assigned during the semester. The total homework score is worth 5% of your course grade. Homework questions will be posted on the course web page and each student will have to turn in a Scantron sheet in class with their answers by the due date. Homework Scantron sheets are to be purchased by the student at the ETSU Bookstore. Note that "standard" Scantrons should be purchaced for these Homework problems. The "standard" forms should have the number "882" listed as part of either the "Ref #" or "Form #." Also note that these Homework assignments will be very useful as a Study Guide for the Exams. The following table shows the due dates for each Homework set.
