Impacting Math and Science Education in Tennessee, K-16 East Tennessee State University

One of the Center's investment priorities is to build strong partnerships and foster innovation to improve K-16 teaching, learning and evaluation in science and mathematics. Our partners include: Local Education Agencies, Eastman Chemical Company, Niswonger Foundation, Nuclear Fuels, Inc., Morrill Motors, NN Ball & Roller, Inc., Tennessee Department of Education, Tennessee Higher Education Commission, National Science Foundation, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Eastman Credit Union and Wal-Mart Foundation.  For example, the ETSU MSP program and corporate sponsored projects have directly impacted more than 750 math and science teachers during the past two decades; thereby, impacting more than 37,500 students. Projects aimed at improving undergraduate science and math education are also central to the Center's  mission. Currently, these projects include: Talent Expansion in Quantitative Biology, ETSU NSF GK-12 Graduate Fellowship: Science First! and NSF/ATE Teacher Preparation Partnership project.
