The Science Educator Journal

The Science Educator, official journal of the National Science Education Leadership Association (NSELA), is a referred journal which seeks manuscripts dealing with topics and issues of interest to professionals involved in science education leadership across a variety of roles, institutions, and agencies.  The journal is published bi-annually with provisions for quarterly publication.  The journal serves as a vehicle for the exchange of information on current theory, research, and classroom applications.  Articles by both practitioners and researchers are encouraged.  Generally, articles are sought that aid practitioners in making more informed decisions about current or future operations, and which improve science teaching and learning, at all levels, in our nation's schools.  Of particular interest are topics that deal with the following issues: curriculum and instruction, science education leadership, pre-service and in-service teacher enhancement / professional development, teaching and learning, needs assessments / research and evaluation, and policies and practices.  http://www.etsu.edu/cas/math/mathexcellence/documents/scienceedufall08vol17no2.pdf

Call for Manuscripts Information for Authors

The Science Educator, official journal of the National Science Education Leadership Association (NSELA), is a refereed journal which seeks manuscripts dealing with topics and issues of interest to professionals involved in science education leadership across a variety of roles, institutions, and agencies. The journal is published bi-annually with provisions for quarterly publication. The journal serves as a vehicle for the exchange of information on current theory, research, and classroom applications. Articles by both practitioners and researchers are encouraged. Generally, articles are sought that aid practitioners in making more informed decisions about current or future operations, and which improve science teaching and learning, at all levels, in our nation's schools. Of particular interest are topics that deal with the following issues: curriculum and instruction, science education reform, science education leadership, pre service and in-service teacher enhancement/professional development, teaching and learning, needs assessments/research and evaluation, and policies and practices.

To have a manuscript considered for publication, please review the guidelines below:                                         

1.  All manuscripts should be sent electronically to <rhotonjj@etsu.edu>; manuscripts should not ex­ceed 5000 words. Samples of previously published articles in the Science Educator can be viewed on the NSELA homepage <www.nsela.org>.

2.  Manuscripts should be typed double-spaced on standard 8.5 x 11 inch paper. Figures, tables and pictures must be submitted in camera ready con­dition. Tables should be typed on separate pages at the end of the manuscript.

3.  Manuscripts must be concisely written. It is im­portant to maintain coherence of thought.

4.  The first page of the manuscript should contain the article title, author's name, affiliation, and ad­dress to which correspondence and proofs should be sent. The author should not place his/her name on the other manuscript pages so that anonymity can be maintained during the review process.

5.  References cited in the manuscript should be listed at the end of the manuscript. Provide accurate and complete information. For questions of format follow the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (Fifth Edition) and Webster’s College Dictionary. 

6.   Authors who are not members of the National Science Leadership Association (NSELA) will be assessed a publication fee of $50.00 per article. Non members may avoid this charge by joining NSELA prior to their manuscripts being published. The institutional charge is $75, $30 individual journal-only. Membership dues are payable at the beginning of each calendar year. 7.  Receipt of manuscripts will be acknowledged7.  Receipt of manuscripts will be acknowledged.

All submitted manuscripts will be reviewed by at least three members of the Editorial Board. Au­thors will be notified by the Editor regarding the recommendation on publication of the manuscript. Transfer of the author's copyright to the National Science Education Leadership Association is a condition for publication.
